The kids over at ISU NORML are hosting an event/rally this weekend that is well worth your time.

If you have even a fleeting interest in reasonable discussion regarding responsible use/legislation of cannabis, then this is right up your alley.

ISU NORML STUDENTS GAIN MOMENTUM 

This Sunday evening, a record number of ISU NORML members will gather to host esteemed guest speakers and exchange ideas on how to propel Iowa’s reform movement.

    Three weeks ago, nearly two hundred ISU NORML members and select ISU faculty came together at the inaugural ISU NORML meeting, and began collecting signatures for a petition demanding the reform of marijuana laws in Iowa. ISU NORML is expecting a record turnout this Sunday at their first Annual Marijuana Liberation Summit.

Included in the agenda will be:

1        Elected State Representative Bruce Hunter will appear to inform students and community members of the steps that need to be taken in order to reform Iowa’s marijuana laws, and share his opinion on why reform is more necessary now than ever before.

2        Dr. Charles Goldman, head surgeon at Des Moines Mercy Hospital, will appear to share his expert opinion on the benefits of medical marijuana as they pertain to Iowans. 

3        Carl Olsen, a web developer for Drake University and reputable marijuana reform activist, will provide insight to the group based on his experiences in attempting to reform Iowa’s marijuana laws, and call for ISU NORML’s members to push their efforts to the next level, in hopes of decriminalizing marijuana in Iowa by the next midterm elections.

4        Steve Lukan, Director of the Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy, plans on being in attendance as well, however will not be speaking at the event.

As one of the largest student organizations that Iowa State has ever seen, NORML ISU is taking a leading role in marijuana law reform in Iowa and across the United States. 

The meeting will be held in the Great Room of the Iowa State Memorial Union 7:30pm this Sunday, February 3.  

Iowa has some severely draconian laws on the books regarding this plant and the folks over at ISU NORMAL are doing good work to help get those laws changed.
