It's been a busy few weeks around here with Halloween, the election cycle winding down, and the start of men's hoops at ISU (YEAHHHH!). So I haven't had time to properly address the biggest pop culture news of the year:
THE SALE OF LUCASFILM TO DISNEY AND THE RETURN OF STAR WARS TO THE BIG SCREEN FOR EPISODE VII,VIII, & IX!!!!!
I don't know how anyone could be bummed by this....at all.
I get that there's this "fooled me once" mentality that permeates some of the fanbase who felt gypped after the release of episodes I-III. The thing with that is the problems that the naysayers (count me among the few that actually liked the prequels, sure Jar Jar was weak...but podracing, Darth Maul? Awesome) was the writing...Lucas, the directing...Lucas, the overuse of green screen...Lucas and the general dumbing down of the story to pander to kids...Lucas.
So now the reins have been handed to Kathleen Kennedy - a woman who makes boss movies and does it well - so the template that we love is there...the colors have been set aside...and the canvas is blank. All we need is someone gifted to paint us more pictures and the possibility that brings to me is the best news I've heard all year.
If you'll excuse the following...I have New Hope...and that is awesome.

Fun Fact #1 - The Chewbacca suit retained a bad smell for the duration of filming after the trash-compactor scene in A New Hope.
