#5 - Poltergeist
When I was in high school, I can remember getting into a very heated discussion with this kid in class regarding the scene in Poltergeist with Craig T Nelson and JoBeth Williams sparking a J in bed early in the film.
He posited that the ghosts in Poltergeist weren't nessecarily mad about the housing development being raised on top of their sacred burial grounds but rather the fact that Coach and his wife were smoking marijuana without going through the proper rituals required to keep the angry spirits pacified.
In his defense, this kid also ate about nine metric tons of LSD over the course of his first 18 years.
In any case, this is one of my favorites, kiddos...it's got polish, it's got Coach smoking the herb, it's got the scariest tree ever put to celluloid, and it's got Zelda Rubenstein....in other words, it's got it all.
Fun Fact #1 - The house used to film this movie is located in Simi Valley, California where it still stands today. The family who owned it when this movie was filmed still live there today.
